MANILA–Some 50 of 80 health care facilities in the Mimaropa region are already implementing the Integrated Clinic Information System (iClinicSys), a systematic way of managing patient records.

“These health facilities are now compliant and implementing the system in their respective areas for the purpose of enlisting, profiling and submitting electronic medical records, or EMR, to PhilHealth,” director of the Mimaropa regional health office, Dr. Eduardo Janairo, said Wednesday.

“Our target is to have all personnel of the remaining 30 RHUs and MHUs (rural and municipal health units) to be trained in iClinicSys before the end of the year.”

Mimaropa covers the provinces of Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan.

Janairo said that once all health facilities are connected, the region will have speedy access to data for the retrieval of patient information, record-keeping, administration and referrals.

The system, he said, will help improve health monitoring, such as a patient’s blood pressure and respiratory rate readings, vaccinations, and scheduled visits, and will facilitate the management of public health interventions.

“It is one of the e-health solutions that support health information exchange and sharing of data, being the electronic medical record system reference model for primary health care facilities and already compliant to PhilHealth’s Primary Care Benefits. It can be accessed via computer, laptop, tablet and smart phones with internet connection,” Janairo explained.

The iClinicSys features the Field Health Services Program, Unified Disease Registries, Watching Over Mother Babies (WOMB), Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, and Philippine Health Information Exchange (PHIE).
