AMADEO–Amadeo Mayor Albert S. Ambagan on Saturday lauded “the coffee farmers’ great contribution to putting Amadeo on the map as a major coffee producer that it is right now”.

This town dubbed “Coffee Capital” has once again perked up, thanks to its annual “Pahimis Festival” which gives tribute to its main industry. The festival ended last April 23.

In a report on Saturday, Mayor Ambagan said the festival aimed to impart on the youth the town’s unique characteristics, tradition and its top produce: coffee beans.

Ambagan, speaking in Filipino, said that “farming has been sustaining and providing the opportunity to constituents here to achieve the development we now enjoy”.

He highlighted how the town’s one-town-one-product (OTOP) has produced successful professionals, world-class traders and entrepreneurs, and calls on the youth for continued patronage of their products.

He also urged the town’s youths to appreciate the town’s natural beauty and cultural richness “in the same breadth in loving our race”.

This year’s theme “KAPE…Noon, Ngayon at Bukas” (coffee…then, now and in the future) featured generations of coffee growers whose main staple crop serves as the town’s one-town-one-product (OTOP).

Department of Tourism (DOT) Assistant Secretary Maria Lourdes Japson, who graced the festival rites, had reiterated the tourism department’s commitment to fully support the promotion of Amadeo’s unique travel experience offering.
