Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, marking the company’s entry into the foldable smartphone market.

Announced on September 9, the iPhone Duo uses a book-style folding design with a 5.4-inch outer display that opens into a 7.6-inch internal screen, the largest display ever offered on an iPhone.

Both are Super Retina XDR displays with ProMotion and Always-On technology, while the inner screen features a nano-texture finish designed to reduce glare and make the crease less visible.

The device is powered by Apple’s new A20 Pro chip and paired with the company’s C2 cellular modem. Apple also introduced a new thermal management system and dual-battery architecture to support multitasking, gaming and other demanding workloads.

For photography, the iPhone Duo is equipped with a 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera and a 48-megapixel Fusion Ultra Wide camera. Its foldable design allows users to take selfies using the higher-resolution rear cameras while using the outer screen as a preview.

Apple has also reworked parts of iOS 27 for the foldable device, including features designed for multitasking and using apps across the larger inner display.

In the United States, the iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 and will be offered in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options.

Apple’s Philippine online store, meanwhile, lists the device starting at ₱159,990 for 256GB, rising to ₱175,990 for 512GB, ₱207,990 for 1TB and ₱254,990 for 2TB.

However, Apple has not yet announced an exact Philippine release date. Its local online store currently tells customers to check back later for availability.

Pre-orders in Apple’s initial launch markets will begin on October 16, with availability starting October 23.

With the iPhone Duo, Apple is bringing the iPhone into a foldable category already occupied by several major smartphone manufacturers, while introducing its own approach to combining a compact phone with a larger tablet-like display.
