LONDON, United Kingdom — Prime Minister Mark Carney met with United Kingdom Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer during his bilateral visit in London on Monday, March 16.
Carney and Starmer discussed the situation in the Middle East, condemning the Iranian regime’s missile and drone attacks and expressing deep concern over the toll on civilians, the risk of further regional escalation, and the broader global economic consequences of the conflict.
They reaffirmed their determination to maintain pressure on Russia and underscored their steadfast support for Ukraine.
Bolstering of the Canada-UK partnership was also discussed, deepening the economic and security cooperation between the two middle powers.
The two leaders’ meeting followed less than a week after the virtual meeting among G7 Leaders to tackle the escalating conflict in the Middle East and its direct impact on the global economy.
