PBBM, US firm tackle plan for medical glove factory in PH

NEW YORK CITY – American manufacturer U.S. Medical Glove Company (USMGC) has expressed interest in building a medical glove manufacturing facility in the Philippines, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced Tuesday.

The plan was raised during Marcos’ meeting with the US company on the sidelines of his United Nations (UN) engagements in New York City on Monday (New York time).

In a Facebook post, Marcos said the project would create over 2,000 jobs and pave the way for the local production of essential medical supplies.

“I met with the U.S. Medical Glove Company to discuss their plans to build a medical glove manufacturing facility in the country. The project could create more than 2,000 jobs for our kababayans (countrymen),” Marcos said.

“It will also allow us to produce essential medical supplies locally and open new opportunities in the growing medical manufacturing industry.”

USMGC is a leading American manufacturer of nitrile and polyisoprene surgical and exam gloves headquartered in a 1.8 million-square-facility in Harvard, Illinois.

The company has 10 nitrile-glove production lines in operation and produces over 2 billion gloves annually.

It uses eco-friendly, energy-efficient machines that are 90 percent lighter than conventional machines and recycles 100 percent of production water.
