NEW YORK – Around seven million Americans joined the “No Kings” nationwide protest against President Donald Trump’s policies, according to event organizers.
Described as one of the largest single-day demonstrations in US history, the protest saw participants gather in more than 2,700 cities and towns across the country.
Organizers said the event, dubbed the “No Kings Day of Peaceful Action,” aimed to stand “in nonviolent defiance of authoritarianism” and to affirm that “this nation belongs to its people, not to kings.
”
The turnout surpassed the June protest, which drew about five million people across 2,100 locations, coinciding with Trump’s birthday and a military parade in Washington.
Organizers said Sunday’s protest marked a growing movement of Americans calling for democracy, equality, and accountability in government.
