Calgary, AB, September 25, 2025 — Jyoti Gondek today launched her economic platform, making clear that she is the one candidate prepared to grow Calgary’s economy the right way, by keeping affordability at the forefront and refusing to be pigeonholed into a narrow view of what City Hall can do.
“Calgary is on the cusp of its next great chapter. We have the momentum, the talent, and the vision to be Canada’s most dynamic and affordable city, but only with the right leadership to guide us there. Over the last four years, I’ve shown that when Calgary invests in itself, we unlock confidence, attract global investment, and build a city where prosperity is shared by all,” Gondek said.
Over the next four years, this economic plan will revitalize downtown, strengthen Calgary’s place in global markets, secure our role as Canada’s future-focused energy capital, and keep affordability at the forefront so every Calgarian can thrive, Gondek added.
“Building a stronger economy is not an end in itself. It is the way we deliver lower taxes, better services, more housing, and the world-class amenities that make Calgary the most attractive and most liveable city in the world.”
Over the last four years, Gondek has guided Calgary through a pandemic recovery, a once-in-a-generation water emergency, inflation, and affordability challenges. She has built strong relationships with federal and provincial partners, stood up for Calgary when it mattered most, and delivered results.
This plan builds on Gondek’s proven track record, a record no other candidate can match. While others are content with small thinking, Gondek has shown she knows how to grow Calgary’s economy the right way, with a solid focus on attracting investment, creating jobs, and making life more affordable for everyone.
Jyoti Gondek’s economic plan is focused on four themes:
- Continue Downtown Revitalization
Make Calgary’s city centre a hub for business, culture, housing, and education. - Expand Global Market Opportunities
Build the Prairie Economic Gateway, make Calgary the most film-friendly city in Canada, and secure Calgary’s fair share of federal and provincial investment. - Lead as Canada’s Energy Capital
Stand up for the conventional energy sector, attract investment in renewables, clean tech, and innovation, continue to advocate for natural gas as a local and global solution for clean energy. - Keep Affordability at the Forefront
Accelerate housing, fight to keep taxes low, and maintain programs like the low-income transit pass and recreation subsidies.
“Affordability doesn’t come from cutting back — it comes from growing forward, with more homes, more jobs, and more investment,” said Gondek. “That’s the difference between my leadership and my opponents: I know how to grow an economy that works for Calgarians.
“This plan locks in Calgary’s momentum, powers Canada’s economy, and ensures prosperity is shared by all.”
