Marcos unveils website on flood controls, urges public to help audit

MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday launched sumbongsapangulo.ph, an online platform designed to provide the public with access to information on flood control projects nationwide while allowing citizens to report any irregularities.”

“(We) put it into a form that is accessible to the public, and most importantly, it is in a form that the public can use so that they can first identify the flood control projects that are within their area,” Marcos said in a press briefing in Malacañang.

“If they already have information, they can tell us about it. Kung maganda ang naging project, kung hindi naging maganda yung project, anong naging problema (what was the problem),” he added.

The President said citizen participation is crucial in detecting anomalies and ensuring transparency in the implementation of the PHP545-billion flood control program since mid-July 2022 when his term started.

“Of course, we want the people who have taken advantage of the system to pay … And if there is evidence of corruption, of embezzlement, of any kind of wrongdoing, that’s when we will move,” he said.

“We cannot do all of this without the help of the ordinary citizen,” Marcos said, stressing that more eyes are better in examining the projects.

He urged Filipinos to submit complaints, feedback, and observations through the website, assuring that “ako mismo… babasahin ko bawat isa (I myself will read each one).”

The launch of the reporting platform follows the President’s directive in his fourth State of the Nation Address to audit flood control projects as the government vowed to improve transparency and ensure accountability in infrastructure spending.
