The City of Toronto has named a parcel of land in Lawrence Park Ravine after City Councillor Jaye Robinson, who passed away on May 16, 2024. The ceremony, held tomorrow, will bring together City officials, community leaders and Councillor Robinson’s family to celebrate and honour her memory.

The newly named Jaye Robinson Park, approximately 2.5 hectares and located in the heart of Don Valley West, commemorates the late Councillor’s contributions to the City. This location was chosen in consultation with the Robinson family, noting that it held special meaning to the late Councillor as a place where community comes together.

Jaye Robinson’s service to the City of Toronto spanned over two decades. She began her career in municipal government as a staff member, working first for the former City of North York and then for the City of Toronto post amalgamation, prior to her election as City Councillor for Don Valley West in 2010. Don Valley West is home to over 70 parks with some of the densest tree canopy in the city. Robinson played a crucial role in expanding Toronto’s tree canopy and revitalizing parks.

“Councillor Jaye Robinson was a visionary leader at City Hall and a strong voice for the communities she represented in Don Valley West. As a committed supporter of Toronto’s green spaces, Jaye spearheaded ambitious park and ravine projects across Ward 15.
