‘We Rise’ theme uplifts community spirit, solidarity, and cultural pride

Burnaby, B.C. – Thousands of people are expected to gather at Swangard Stadium for Pinoy Festival 2025, the largest Filipino cultural event in Canada. This year’s theme, “We Rise”, honors the strength of the Filipino-Canadian community and the spirit of unity across cultures—especially following the recent tragedy at the Lapu-Lapu Day Festival.

The event opens with a lively Hataw Zumbayanan (Zumba to Filipino music) and then a show of unity and remembrance as cyclists from four Filipino-Canadian cycling groups participate in the Ride and Rise, a tribute ride starting in Queensborough, with a solemn stop at the temporary Lapu-Lapu Memorial. From there, they continue to join the Solidarity Parade at the festival grounds.

The parade, which begins at 10:30 AM, will bring together not only Filipino groups, but also organizations from other immigrant communities—including South Asian, Latino, African and Chinese organizations — marching side by side to affirm the shared values of hope, and belonging.

The Pinoy Festival features over 180 vendors and community booths, more than 70 Filipino organizations, a Beer Garden and a full day of entertainment and interactive family activities.

The main stage will also have local and international artists performing Filipino favourites and other songs and will include a We Rise Concert in the evening.

TransLink is also providing free shuttle service from Patterson SkyTrain Station to Swangard Stadium making the event even more accessible and family-friendly.

The Pinoy Festival 2025: We Rise is organized by the Pinoy Festival Alliance Society, a registered non-profit with more than 70 member organizations.
