Berlin, June 03, 2025 – The creators behind the hit series Dear Child – Isabel Kleefeld, Tom Spiess, and Friederich Oetker – have teamed up once again to produce a psychological thriller for Netflix. Filming for The Trap, based on the novel of the same name by Melanie Raabe, is currently in full swing in and around Düsseldorf as well as in Cologne.
The Trap is a complex web of deception and truth, about a murder for which almost anyone could be the killer…
Renowned author Lisa Konrad (Friederike Becht) hasn’t left her house in nearly ten years, ever since she witnessed the murder of her sister Anna. But when she believes she recognizes the killer on television, she sets out to trap him — using herself as the bait.
The cast also includes Hans Löw as journalist Robert Lenzen, Matthias Brandt as publisher Norbert Rudow, Miriam Ohlmeyer as the fictional character Sophie, Josephine Thiesen as Lisa Konrad’s sister Anna, and Malaya Stern Takeda as Lisa’s assistant Yuma.
The six-part miniseries is produced by Constantin Film, with Tom Spiess and Friederich Oetker at the helm — the same team that collaborated with Isabel Kleefeld on the Netflix hit series Dear Child. For Dear Child, the successful trio was honored with an International Emmy® Award in the TV Movie / Mini-Series category.
For The Trap, Isabel Kleefeld serves as writer, director, and creative producer. Cinematography is by Martin Langer (Kleo, Dear Child), production design by Cordula Jedamski, and the score is composed by Oscar winner Volker Bertelmann (All Quiet on the Western Front).
