DFA Says Roque Has Only One Valid Passport Amid Legal Case

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has clarified that former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque holds only one valid Philippine passport. This comes after the Department of Justice claimed Roque might have two or three passports.

According to the DFA, Roque’s current passport was issued in July 2024 and is valid until July 2034. “All other previously issued [passports] under his name have been duly canceled,” the agency stated. They added that Filipinos are only allowed one regular passport at a time unless they’re government officials traveling for work, who may also hold diplomatic or official passports.

Roque once held a diplomatic passport while serving in government, but it expired in December 2022. That document is no longer valid.
This clarification comes as Roque faces serious charges, including qualified human trafficking, linked to a Philippine offshore gaming hub in Pampanga. He was recently ordered arrested and is currently seeking asylum in the Netherlands, claiming political persecution.

The passport issue adds to the growing controversy surrounding Roque, but the DFA’s confirmation aims to set the record straight on at least one front.
