MANILA – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil on Friday expressed thanks to the Department of Justice (DOJ) who earlier dismissed the complaints filed by Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) Pastor Apollo Quiboloy against him and other law enforcement officials over the serving of warrants last year.
In an interview, Marbil expressed his happiness over this development as he is retiring by June 7.
“At least, baka makapag-retire po akong walang kaso (I can retire without any case against me),” he said.
Marbil, along with former Interior secretary Benhur Abalos and other police officers, was named respondents in the malicious mischief and domicile complaints that stemmed from damage to the KOJC compound gate during the operation.
The complaints were filed last September following the search and eventual arrest of Quiboloy for qualified human trafficking and other charges.
Marbil added there was no reason for the KOJC to file complaints against them as they were only doing their job.
Meanwhile, Abalos said the DOJ decision affirmed that the actions taken during the operation were in accordance with the law.
“This is the end of the matter. The truth has prevailed,” he said.
The DOJ dismissed the complaints on Thursday.
Quiboloy is currently detained at the Pasig City Jail male dormitory facing charges of child abuse, sexual abuse and human trafficking.
