Myanmar earthquake: 694 dead, 1,670 injured, 68 missing

MANDALAY, Myanmar – The death toll from the powerful earthquake that struck Myanmar’s Mandalay region has risen to 694, with 1,670 people injured and 68 still missing as of Saturday morning, according to the Information Team of Myanmar’s State Administration Council.
The 7.7-magnitude quake hit the country on Friday afternoon, causing widespread⁶⁶.
It triggered a power supply failure, disrupted mobile networks, and left parts of Yangon without signal.
Numerous buildings were damaged, and rescue operations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, Myanmar’s Department of Meteorology and Hydrology said Saturday morning that 12 aftershocks, with magnitudes ranging from 2.8 to 7.5, occurred on Friday following the massive quake that struck the country at 12:51 p.m. local time. (Xinhua)
