Pope Francis admitted to hospital for bronchitis

ROME – Pope Francis was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli hospital on Friday for medical tests and treatment following a bout of bronchitis, the Vatican announced.
“After his morning audiences, Pope Francis will be admitted to the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic for necessary diagnostic tests and continued treatment for his ongoing bronchitis,” the Vatican press office said.
The 88-year-old pontiff has recently relied on aides to read his addresses, citing health concerns that left him unable to deliver them himself.
On Feb. 6, the Holy See Press Office had released a statement noting that the Pope was suffering from bronchitis at his residence in the Casa Santa Marta.
