DOJ evaluating NBI findings on VP Sara’s ‘kill threat’ vs. Marcos

MANILA – The Department of Justice (DOJ) is assessing the findings of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Vice President Sara Duterte’s supposed “kill threat” against President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
In a Palace press briefing Monday, Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon said prosecutors were reviewing the NBI report and assessing whether the pieces of evidence gathered were enough to trigger a deeper investigation.
“Depending on the outcome, we will be able to make a recommendation whether to have it considered filed already before the department and/or to return it to the NBI if there’s a need to build up the case further and add to the evidence that they have,” Fadullon said.
“The NBI and DOJ are working closely together with our prosecutors to assess the evidence on hand,” he added.
Justice Undersecretary Raul Vasquez added that if the evaluation confirms sufficient grounds, a preliminary investigation will follow.
In an expletive-laden online briefing in November last year, Duterte said she had already tapped an assassin to kill President Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez if the supposed assassination plot against her were to succeed.
