Viewers praise “It’s Showtime’s” ‘And The Breadwinner Is’ for sharing stories of hope and sacrifice

Honoring Filipino breadwinners…

“It’s Showtime’s” new segment ‘And The Breadwinner Is’ continues to gain positive feedback from viewers for showcasing the stories of Filipino breadwinners, shedding light to their struggles and sacrifices, and giving a glimmer of hope for the hardworking Madlang People.

Kapamilya star Julia Montes, who appeared on the November 28 episode, said that she can relate to the contestants because she was a breadwinner herself. She shared that she started working at 5 years old by doing commercials and ads.

Meanwhile, the November 30 episode featuring April, the breadwinner to her 10 siblings, trended online because of her heart wrenching story that prompted the “It’s Showtime” hosts to pool money amounting to P100,000 as a gift for the contestant and her family this Christmas.

OPM group BGYO also tried their luck in guessing the breadwinner during Monday’s episode (December 2), which trended on X. However, the group failed to guess the breadwinner from the three contenders. The real breadwinner, Ethan, a personal driver, received a free hotel staycation, buffet, tablet, executive check-up for him and his mother, and P20,000 cash from “It’s Showtime.”

Netizens praised the segment and poured in their feelings on how they can relate to the breadwinners featured in the segment.

“Relate na relate ako sa ibang stories sa “And The Breadwinner Is” ng It’s Showtime. At the age of 22, I started my 8-5 job and since then, I shoulder all of the expenses sa bahay – bills, food, shelter, etc. Yung pinaka bagong damit ko pa is galing ukay lagi. I’m so proud lang,” X user @ijhonrayandrada posted.

“I can relate much sa Showtime segment na “And the Breadwinner Is” being a breadwinner for the family since age 15. Naiiyak ako palagi sa segment na ito,” another X user @MariaLo77639658 tweeted.
