CIDG mulls interviewing VP Sara on ‘threat’ vs. PBBM

MANILA – The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) on Tuesday said it is looking at the possibility of interviewing Vice President Sara Duterte, in connection with her threat against President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
PNP CIDG chief Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said they are investigating the matter upon the order of top cop, Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil.
“If it (investigation) needs an interview with the Vice President, we will do it through channels. According to the investigation plan that we have made, there is a possibility (Duterte will be interviewed) but it’s not on the top priority,” he said in a television interview.
However, Torre said Duterte has the right to refuse any subpoena or summons that may be issued against her.
Despite this, he said they would proceed with the investigation.
“Just like in any criminal investigation, we don’t need the statement of the main actor in the criminal investigation,” he added.
Torre said a grave threat against any person is punishable under the Revised Penal Code.
“But if it involves the President, it is an altogether different ball game and another law comes in,” he added.
