MANILA – The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) will screen 50 of its most popular movies in the past five decades for only PHP50 in select cinemas from Sept. 25 to Oct. 15.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) acting chair and MMFF overall concurrent chair Romando Artes said the promotion is part of the “Sine Sigla sa Singkwenta” meant to commemorate the 50th edition of the MMFF.

“We will bring some of the most memorable MMFF films back to the big screen for just P50, allowing both new audiences and long-time fans to experience the magic of those beloved films once again. These films represent the very best of what the MMFF has offered over the past five decades,” Artes said during the program’s launch at the MMDA office in Guadalupe, Makati City.

A hand-painted mural of actors and actresses representing the 50 years of MMFF movies has also been unveiled along EDSA.

The mural features faces of movie icons such as Gloria Romero, Nora Aunor, Vilma Santos, Christopher de Leon, Maricel Soriano, Vic Sotto, Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, Vice Ganda, Amy Austria, Joseph Estrada, Anthony Alonzo, and the late actors Dolphy, Eddie Garcia and Fernando Poe Jr.

“This mural stands as a reminder of the timeless stories that have captured the hearts of generations and will continue to inspire future ones. This also serves as a tribute to the filmmakers, actors, and artists who have helped shape the MMFF throughout the years,” he said.

Hand-painted posters of past movies will also adorn walls along EDSA through a partnership with iAcademy, a specialized computing, business, and design academic institution.

“As we look forward to another 50 years, let us continue to support and promote the MMFF and the local film industry, and encourage our Filipino filmmakers to create meaningful and impactful films that resonate with audiences both local and abroad,” he said.
