Apple posts record 2nd-quarter sales with gains in iPad, services

ISTANBUL – Apple posted record second-quarter sales, with strong gains for the iPad and services, according to its financial results statement released Thursday.

The US-based tech firm posted total net sales of almost USD85.8 billion in its fiscal 2024 third quarter ended June 29, which corresponds to the April-June period of this year.

The figure is nearly a 5 percent increase from approximately USD81.8 billion in the same period last year.

“Today Apple is reporting a new June quarter revenue record of USD85.8 billion, up 5 percent from a year ago,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in the statement.

“During the quarter, we were excited to announce incredible updates to our software platforms at our Worldwide Developers Conference, including Apple Intelligence, a breakthrough personal intelligence system that puts powerful, private generative AI models at the core of iPhone, iPad, and Mac,” he added.

Net income, meanwhile, rose 7.5 percent to USD21.4 billion from USD19.9 billion during that period.

Net sales of the iPad brought in almost USD7.2 billion in the April-June period, up 24 percent from nearly USD5.8 billion in the same period last year.

Services’ net sales came in at USD24.2 billion, which rose 14 percent from USD21.2 billion during that period. (Anadolu)
