MANILA – Some 25,000 job opportunities are available for Filipinos who are seeking employment abroad, particularly in Japan.
In a social media post on Saturday, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said the special job fair was organized with the Embassy of Japan in celebration of the Philippines-Japan Friendship Week.
The event titled “Konnichiwa Pilipinas! Kumusta, Japan!” will be held at the 3rd floor of Robinsons Galleria Ortigas in Quezon City on Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Fifteen licensed recruitment agencies are participating while companies will offer jobs in the sectors of construction, medical and healthcare, hotel and restaurant, and customer services, among others.
The DMW said the event aims to provide a venue for Filipino job seekers to access legitimate recruiters.
It also allows potential overseas Filipino workers to learn about gender dynamics and potential risks associated with overseas labor migration through short information sessions on Japanese-gendered work culture.
Proclamation No. 854, signed in 2005 by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, declared July 23 yearly as the Friendship Day between Japan and the Philippines in honor of the Peace Treaty and Reparations Agreement inked by the two nations on July 23, 1956.
It also marked the beginning of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Philippines.
