MANILA – Malacañang will release a detailed report to the public to thoroughly explain the contents of the third State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. later this month.

Speaking to reporters in Montalban, Rizal on Wednesday, Marcos said preparations for his SONA speech are underway, although he admitted their predicament on how to fit the lengthy government report into an hour-long talk.

“Marami tayong mga issue na kailangan pag-usapan. Kaya’t ire-report… report talaga sa bayan ‘yan (We have a lot of issues to talk about. That is why we really need to report these to the public),” he said.

“And ‘yun lamang sa totoo lang, ang pinaka-problema namin ay paano namin ipagkakasya lahat doon sa isang SONA na mga isang oras na salita (To be honest, our main problem is how to fit everything in the SONA that is just about an hour long).

Marcos said that is why they came up with a brief.

“Kaya’t ang ginawa namin ay mayroon kaming ginawang brief, ganun kakapal (That’s why we produced a brief this thick), which is a report to the nation, which goes into the detail. The detail that I cannot go into during the SONA dahil masyadong mahaba (it’s too lengthy),” he said.

Marcos said the report would be provided to the public, including members of the press, the private sector, and schools, to offer a detailed explanation and updates on the government’s programs, plans, and activities.

The President delivers the SONA every year, usually every last Monday of July, to report the state of the country, unveil the administration’s agenda, and ask Congress to pass priority measures.
