Star Magic All-Star Games draws big crowds, trends online with multiple topics
This year’s Star Magic All-Star Games once again drew a huge audience at the Araneta Coliseum and also generated loud buzz online as it entered the trending list with multiple topics last Sunday (June 2).
Playing for a sold-out arena at the Araneta Coliseum, Gerald Anderson, who led Shooting Stars Red as a playing coach, shared his happiness after their team ended “It’s Showtime” team’s winning streak. “Thank you sa mga taong nanood, sa It’s Showtime. Sa Star Magic boys, grabe ang dedication, and it paid off. We’re happy,” Gerald expressed.
“Pinaghandaan namin. Nag-extra work kami. Meron kaming chat group, lagi kaming magkausap doon. We’re motivating each other, lagi kaming nagbibigay ng mga inspirational words,” he shared, describing their team preparation.
Vice Ganda and Vhong Navarro led and supported the “It’s Showtime” team during the game.
On the other hand, Donny Pangilinan and Ronnie Alonte led the Shooting Stars Blue team to victory against guest team Cong’s Anbilibabol Basketball Team.
“Noong nalaman ko na Team Payaman yung kalaban and I was asked to join, hindi na ko naghesitate kasi alam kong magiging masaya siya and they’re a really good and fun group. I think it’s a great experience for us and for the fans,” Donny said.
He also commended the annual sports fest of Star Magic for its artists.
“I think it’s nice that they focused on sports as well. It’s a good reminder na no matter how hard you work, dapat meron ka rin ginagawa to protect yourself and be healthy. It’s nice to have more of these events,” he said.
Donny, Ronnie, River Joseph, Nelson Mendoza, and Cris Lagudas formed the Mythical 5 of the first game, with Ronnie taking home the MVP title. Ion Perez, Lance Carr, Argel Saycon, Derrick Hubalde, and Young JV made up the Mythical 5 during the second game, with Young JV crowned MVP.
Meanwhile, the Lady Spikers, led by Loisa Andalio, defended their crown in a volleyball match against the Lady Setters.
BINI’s Mikha Lim, Vivoree, Analain Salvador, Awra Briguela, Reign Parani, and Janah Zaplan were announced as the Mythical Six, while Analain won as the MVP for the 4th time.
Nation’s Girl Group BINI graced the event and performed “Karera” and their viral hit song “Pantropiko,” during the final game’s halftime. The new P-Pop boy group WRIVE also performed during the event. Star Magic head Lauren Dyogi and Star Magic artists Mutya Orquia, BGYO’s JL and Akira, Chie Filomeno, Francine Diaz, Barbie Imperial, and Belle Mariano were also present during the games.
