Lawmaker dares Guo to take DNA test with alleged mother

MANILA – Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Friday urged Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo to take a DNA test with Lin Wen Yi, her alleged biological mother, following information from the former’s sources in Valenzuela City who have worked with the Guo family.

“Importante at dapat mag-DNA test silang dalawa para malaman natin ang totoo kung sila ay related o hindi. Dahil base sa mga nakakausap ko dito sa Valenzuela dahil nagrenta sila ng warehouse dito, may mga nagtrabaho sa kanila. Yung iba doon ay nakausap ko, yung iba nagkwento at lumalabas ipinakilala na nanay niya si Lin Wen Yi (It is important and necessary for them to undergo a DNA test so that we will know the truth if they are related or not. Because according to the people I talked to here in Valenzuela, because they rented a warehouse here, some people worked for them. The others said Lin Wen Yi was introduced as her mother),” Gatchalian said in a radio interview.

The sources, he said, know Guo’s mother as “Winnie” which can possibly be a nickname for “Wen Yi.”

“Ang kanyang English name o Filipino name is Winnie kaya hindi din malayo to sa Wen Yi dahil yan naman ang ginagawa normally ng mga Chinese (Her English name or Filipino name is Winnie so it’s not far from Wen Yi because that’s what the Chinese normally do),” Gatchalian said.

He said the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality is yet to decide on whether to invite Lin Wen Yi in the next public hearings.

He said based on their flight records, Guo’s father Jian Zhong Guo and Wen Yi flew together 140 times in a span of 7 to 8 years.

“Doon sa mga corporate papers, meron silang labing-apat na corporation, pito doon andun si Wen Yi bilang incorporator. Eh sa mga family business, normal yan eh. Dito sa Valenzuela halos lahat nang family business ganyan ang kanilang setup (In the corporate papers, they have fourteen corporations, seven of which have Wen Yi as an incorporator. In family businesses, that’s normal.

Here in Valenzuela, almost all family businesses have that kind of setup),” he said.

Gatchalian, however, said the committee cannot force Guo and Wen Yi to undergo a DNA test.

But he said if the test came out negative, Guo can also justify her claim to be a “love child” of her father and his housekeeper.
