Fashion designers from all over the world have come together in Paris to present their latest collections at the Global Fashion Collective show. From avant-garde designs to classic fashion staples, this event is a testament to the power of creativity and the beauty of diversity. Let’s celebrate the creative genius of these designers and experience the magic of fashion.
Kalokuma presented a free-spirited collection that lit up the runway with whimsical garments that joyously refused to conform to a specific fashion sensibility. This charming collection is Japanese designer Maki Amano’s foray into creating an adult line after over two decades of producing and selling bespoke children’s clothing as a hobby. In 2022, her journey as a designer began with one overarching aim, and that was to make the wearer of her garment smile. The traditional kimono, with its strict ado, has received design intervention to bring ease to the wearer, who appreciates the graceful silhouette of a kimono but perhaps lacks the habit or patience to don it. Resolute in her conviction of not allowing her creations to be stereotyped, her brand is on an exciting adventure to offer these unique pieces and easy interpretations to the world
Hiroko Tokumine presents “HIME: The Princess”, a sublime collection that gently uncouples the fuss associated with donning the grand formal Kimono and replaces it with ease and a little playfulness. The garments feature luxurious fractal pattern printed silk fabrics and Hiroko Tokumine’s signature western clothing-inspired style of sleeves, which has found popularity as “Japonica Sleeves”. The intricate traditional Japanese craftwork “Tsumami-zaiku” can be traced back to 1780s Kyoto, which involves “pinching” and “folding” small cloth, with tweezers and no use of needles or thread to create seasonal flowers, petals, and birds, has been painstakingly employed in the showcased garments. With deep reverence for the time-honoured venerable kimono weaves, Hiroko Tokumine upcycles the discarded yardage to create fresh designs.
nae. ATELIER showcased “Make Your Own Excuse”, an ethereal graceful collection for a discerning elegant bride. DesignerSanae Yokohata is committed to offering creations that do not overwhelm a beautiful bride on her cherished day by resolutely keeping the designs simple and sophisticated. Bridal gowns with minimal construction lines make the silhouette lean and beautiful by combining the skilled Japanese craftsmanship of pattern-making and sewing with luxurious fabrics selected from across Japan. The brand pares back all excesses to shine the light only on the wearer and her, own unique identity. The brand is rooted in its ethos that the essence of true beauty lies within a person, and the designs are to enhance the bride’s light from within.
