3 Filipino films to screen in Hollywood on Nov. 2
MANILA – Three Filipino films are set to have a VIP screening and reception in Hollywood for the launch of the first-ever Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) on Nov. 2.
In a statement on Friday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said the films, originally featured during the Summer Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in April, will be screened at the Directors Guild of America on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, California.
The films are Summer MMFF best picture winner About Us But Not About Us, Here Comes the Groom, and Love You Long Time.
The red-carpet premiere will feature a VIP reception, a meet-and-greet with filmmakers and stars of the three titles, and a question-and-answer segment about the MIFF.
MMDA acting chair and concurrent MMFF chair Don Artes said the MIFF would showcase and promote the “world-class” quality of Filipino films.
“MIFF also aims to bridge the gap between two worlds and connect the Philippine entertainment sector to Hollywood and the global stage,” Artes said.
Tickets for the event will range from USD60 for a single movie pass or USD249 for an all-movie pass with access to the VIP lounge.
It can be purchased at manilainternationalfilmfest.com.
Expected guests include award-winning Filipino actresses Hilda Koronel and Pinky De Leon as well as cast from the movies to be screened such as actors Enchong Dee and Kaladkaren from Here Comes the Groom, director Jun Lana and actor Romnick Sarmenta from About Us But Not About Us and director JP Habac and actress Eisel Serrano from Love You Long Time.
The next MIFF screening is scheduled from Jan. 30 until Feb. 2, 2024 and will feature 10 films from the 49th MMFF that will be screened nationwide during the holiday season.
