GMA Pinoy TV celebrates Filipino-American History Month
This Filipino-American History Month, GMA Network’s international flagship channel GMA Pinoy TV proudly commemorates the rich heritage and remarkable contributions of the Filipino-American community in the United States by participating in a series of exciting events.
From October 7 to October 28, the “Images of America” exhibition will grace the Trickster Cultural Center in Schaumburg, Illinois. The exhibit will be open on Tuesdays to Fridays from 10 am to 5 pm and on Saturdays from 10 am to 3 pm. The event anticipates a gathering of Filipino-Americans residing in Chicago and nearby areas. The exhibit is organized by the Filipino American Historical Society Chicago (FAHSC), which has been dedicated to preserving and promoting Filipino American history and culture.
GMA Pinoy TV supported Parokya ni Edgar Live! 2023 last October 14, 7 pm (EST) in Cramton Auditorium, Washington DC, and on October 15, 6 pm (EST) at Palladium Times Square, New York as the Exclusive Media Sponsor.
The band’s frontman, Chito Miranda, currently serves as one of the judges of GMA’s spin-off of the singing competition “The Voice Generations.” The event is organized by Tri Media Concepts.
On October 19, GMA Pinoy TV will be at the “Fall Education Conference” at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel SF airport from 8 am to 5 pm. The event anticipates the participation of members of the Philippine Nurses Association of Northern California, Inc (PNANC).
From October 20 to 24, the SamaSama Project takes center stage with various performances of Filipino songs that have been significantly influenced by American music over the past century. Rooted in the intertwined history of the Philippines and America, this show pays tribute to the Golden Age of American Song, a time when the most renowned Filipino composers crafted their treasured melodies. The SamaSama Project explores the iconic songs of that era, blending Spanish, American, and Filipino musical influences in perfect harmony.
On October 20, the enchanting “Para sa Kultura” performance will be held at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, Illinois. Following that, on October 22, the project will take center stage during “The Great Filipino Songbook at Everybody’s Market Chicago and Davenport’s Piano Bar in Chicago, Illinois. Moreover, witness the SamaSama project at the “Adobo Festival 2023” on October 29 at Seafood City in Chicago. Finally, on November 19, “The Great Filipino Songbook ” returned to Davenport’s Piano Bar in Chicago. (pending poster from Mae)
The SF City Hall Rotunda in San Francisco, California will also have a Filipino American History Month Celebration 2023 on October 26. This event promises to be a memorable evening filled with cultural richness and vibrant traditions.
Another significant event is the “13th Annual The Outstanding Filipino Award (TOFA)” on October 27 in Zipper Concert Hall, Downtown Los Angeles, California, USA, where GMA Network’s award-winning broadcast journalist Jessica Soho will be honored with Global Awards for Journalism in recognition of her remarkable contributions to the worldwide Filipino media industry.
The event is expected to draw not only the TOFA Awardees but Filipino-Americans and professionals. TOFA Awards, LLC, in collaboration with the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NAFFAA), celebrates outstanding Filipino achievements.
