GMA Pinoy TV celebrates the 125th Philippine Independence Day with Global Pinoys

GMA Network’s international flagship channel GMA Pinoy TV is thrilled to announce its participation in the 125th Philippine Independence Day (PID) celebrations worldwide, taking place in various cities in June 2023.
Throughout the month of June, GMA Pinoy TV will actively engage in several PID events, featuring renowned GMA artists who will captivate audiences with their exceptional performances, representing the spirit of Filipino pride and talent.
One of the highlighted events is the “Fabulous Philippines 2 New York”, in Queens, New York, USA, on June 3, organized by Neocolors Production and Advertising, Inc. This event will showcase the talents ofHearts On Ice lead actor Xian Lim and Miss World 2013 Megan Young, who will deliver energetic performances.
“Proudly Philippines”, an event organized by the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, will also take place on June 3 at Robson’s Square in Downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The event aims to showcase the vibrant Philippine culture through traditional dances, arts, and music. It will also provide a platform to promote Filipino-owned businesses, products, and services to both Filipino Canadians and the broader Canadian community in Greater Vancouver. GMA Pinoy TV will also have the exciting Tinikling 2.0 challenge, a program that was successfully implemented during last year’s celebration.
Another noteworthy event is the “Pista sa Nayon”, set to happen also on June 3 at Mare Island’s Coal Sheds in Vallejo, California. This whole-day extravaganza from 11 am to 6 pm promises a wide array of activities and attractions. Attendees will be able to enjoy a Tagalog spelling bee and engage in Filipino games and captivating cultural dances as well as various art exhibitions and performances. Pista sa Nayon offers a unique opportunity for the community to come together and immerse themselves in the rich traditions and talents of the Filipino culture.
The “Philippine Independence Day in New York” on June 4, organized by PIDCI (Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc.), promises a day filled with festivities. This year’s celebration is a historic milestone as we celebrate the 125th Philippine Independence Day with the theme “Honoring our Cultural Heritage, Inspiring Inclusion and Diversity”. The parade along Madison Avenue will feature symbols of historic events as tribute to national heroes and modern-day heroes: nurses and other healthcare workers, OFWs, and other professionals. There will also be cultural presentations representing Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, with performances from the representatives of the different provinces of the Philippines. There will be stage appearances of Xian Lim and Megan Young in the afternoon. The Philippine’s Department of Tourism (DOT) and Department of Trade and Industries (DTI) will also be participating.
Another event to look forward to is the “Red Deer All-Filipino Basketball Tournament” on June 3 and 4. This two-day event is part of the Filipino Heritage Month Basketball League, which aims to promote sportsmanship through competitive gameplay. Eight teams from Calgary, Edmonton, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Red Deer, and Lethbridge, Canada, will be participating in the all-Filipino open-division league.
On June 10, the “Padyak para sa Kalayaan, A Fun Bike Ride for Everyone”, will be held. This event will bring together Filipino bike enthusiasts and their families. The bike ride will commence at Red Deer City Hall, Canada, and will culminate at a park where all participants will be treated to refreshments and entertainment.
Mark your calendars also for the “Red Deer Fiesta Filipino 2023”, a full-day celebration on June 11 in Canada. The festivities will kick off with a flag-raising ceremony, followed by a delightful breakfast at the festival hall. Attendees can explore various Filipino booths showcasing businesses, enjoy games suitable for kids and adults, and be entertained by captivating performances such as folk dances and Original Pilipino Music (OPM). Additionally, there will also be a beauty pageant to add a touch of glamour to the festivity.
Additionally, Kapuso leading man Gabby Concepcion will be present at the “Piyesta Pinoy sa Bolingbrook, IL” and will be making a grand comeback with an in-person celebration on Philippine Independence Day this 2023. This year’s event in Chicago, Illinois, USA, on June 10, organized by the Philippine American Cultural Foundation (PACF), marks its 10th year anniversary as one of the largest Filipino American festivals in the Midwest. The festivity will showcase rich tapestry of the Philippine culture, music, arts, games, and delectable cuisine.
In Phoenix, the “Philippine Independence Day in Arizona” celebration will take place on June 10 at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix. The event is set to feature a rich showcase of cultural performances, vibrant booths and exhibits, exciting cosplay activities, and captivating live entertainment, providing a wonderful opportunity to experience and celebrate the beauty of Philippine culture.
Meanwhile, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the highly-anticipated “Pinoy Fiesta and Trade Show” will be held on June 10 at Albert Campbell Square. Established in 2010, this full-day event is a grand celebration of Filipino culture and heritage. It will be filled with entertaining performances by local artists, engaging activities for seniors and youths, captivating cultural dances, dazzling Broadway musical numbers, energetic hip-hop routines, the iconic Santacruzan procession, and more. One of the highlights of this event will be the unfurling of one of the largest Philippine flags, symbolizing unity and national pride. Distinguished dignitaries from various government levels and community organizations are expected to grace the occasion, making it a momentous gathering of Filipino-Canadian and their supporters.
On June 11, the “Kapangyawan Friendship Festival” will take place in Hong Kong. Organized by the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong and Global Alliance in Hong Kong, this festival will be held at Charter Road Central in Hong Kong. Sparkle star Ruru Madrid will grace the event, which will run from 9am to 6pm.
“Philippine Independence Day Festival @HiFi” will host an exciting event at the Filipino American Community of Los Angeles Compound in Los Angeles, California on June 25. This event, organized by the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles (PCG LA) and the Filipino American Community of Los Angeles (FACLA), will also feature Gabby Concepcion. Attendees can look forward to a day filled with cultural festivities from 9am to 3pm.
