A Space to Grow: Introducing REEL LIFE Camp for Aspiring and Under-represented Thai Film and TV Creatives
This August, Netflix will kick-start REEL LIFE Camp in Bangkok, Thailand. This exciting new initiative prepares aspiring Thai film and television professionals for a meaningful career in the entertainment industry.
Spread over two days, the camp, which takes place in one of Southeast Asia’s most vibrant cities, aims to inspire, train and empower young and under-represented Thai creatives, including those from outside of the Greater Bangkok area, by enabling them to access the experience and knowledge of industry veterans.
Funded by the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity, this initiative is working on expanding the possibilities for those in Thailand who are interested in working in the fields of Assistant Director, Post Production Supervisor, Script Supervisor, Production and Production Accountant, among others.
We established the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity to invest $100 million over five years in creating more pathways for talent from under-represented communities across the world. And we are making progress. In two years, we’ve invested $29 million in more than 35 countries across 100 different programs, including right here in Asia-Pacific.
And we’re just getting started. This year, we’ve announced new programs and the renewal of several initiatives in countries from the Philippines to Thailand and India that aim to build new opportunities for under-represented communities within entertainment here in Asia-Pacific.
There’s more to come, and I’m excited about other initiatives we plan to announce later this year to support new talent, new voices, and new work.
