Comelec to print 1.6M additional BSKE ballots next month
MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is set to start next month printing some 1.6 million additional ballots for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in October.
According to Comelec chairman George Garcia, the ballots will be printed at the National Printing Office (NPO) in Quezon City.
“This coming May, we will be printing additional 1.6 million official ballots. This represents the additional registered voters from the registration period of December 12 to January 31,” he said in an interview.
“This past month, we had the Election Registration Board (ERB) hearings. More or less, the number is 1.6 million,” the poll body chief added.
The Comelec already printed the 90,613,426 official ballots for the village and youth polls last March.
He noted that they are also preparing for the training of teachers who will serve as members of electoral boards (EBs).
“The training of our teachers, who will serve as EBs, will be held this August,” Garcia said.
He added that they have started packing the election paraphernalia which are being readied for deployment.
The BSKE is set to be held on Oct. 30, 2023.
