More areas placed under signal no. 1 due to TD Amang
As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, TCWS No. 1 has been hoisted over the following areas: Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Quezon (Pitogo, San Andres, Buenavista, San Francisco, Calauag, Infanta, Lopez, Catanauan, Mulanay, Guinayangan, Unisan, General Luna, Plaridel, Quezon, Alabat, Sampaloc, Padre Burgos, Macalelon, Mauban, General Nakar, Perez, Agdangan, Gumaca, Atimonan, Real, San Narciso, Tagkawayan, Pagbilao, City of Tayabas) including Polilo Islands, Marinduque and Masbate including Ticao Island, Burias Island; Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar and Biliran.
These areas may experience strong winds to near gale strength winds which may pose minimal to minor threat to life and property, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
Amang was last tracked 270 km. east of Virac town, Catanduanes, moving westward at 30 kph.
The TD packs maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
Amang is still expected to remain as a tropical depression throughout the forecast period, and is likely to weaken into a low pressure area by Thursday or Friday.
lt is also forecast that Amang will remain offshore over the waters east of Luzon for the next three days, but a landfall scenario over the Bicol Peninsula area is not ruled out, PAGASA said.
