25 Filipinos from quake-stricken Türkiye arrive in PH

MANILA – The first batch of 25 overseas Filipinos affected by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Türkiye arrived in the Philippines Monday.

In a news release issued Monday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the Philippine Embassy in Ankara is still housing, providing and arranging for the repatriation of 27 more families expected to arrive next week.

The repatriated Filipinos were residing in Hatay and Gaziantep, the provinces severely affected by the earthquake.

The repatriated Filipinos were grateful that they were spared from the ravages of the earthquake and gave thanks to the Philippine Embassy in Ankara as well as the DFA and the Philippine government for the help.

The embassy continues to address the concerns of the Filipinos housed in its shelter, including provisions for their extending their stay, as well as finding the appropriate housing and financial programs and other services offered by the Turkish government and non-government organizations so that they could rebuild their homes.
