Families displaced by Neneng top 50K: NDRRMC
MANILA – The number of families affected by severe weather conditions caused by Typhoon Neneng has climbed to 50,248, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Wednesday.
In its latest situation report, the agency said the figure is equivalent to 175,275 persons residing in 434 barangays located in the Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, and Cordillera regions.
Only 12 evacuation centers remain in operation, sheltering 163 families or 578 individuals. The rest have returned home or are being helped by relatives and friends.
Still being validated are reports of two persons injured in the Ilocos region.
The NDRRMC has yet to release figures regarding deaths or missing persons that might be attributed to Neneng.
The typhoon also damaged 166 houses in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and the CAR — 115 of which were partially damaged while 51 were totally damaged.
Damage to agriculture was estimated at PHP366.05 million and to infrastructure, PHP81.5 million in the three regions.
