Filipino-Canadian film PACO comes home for its Canadian Premiere at VIFF 2022
Vancouver BC, September 21, 2022 – Vancouver International Film Festival has confirmed the OFFICIAL SELECTION of the short film, “PACO” for their 41st annual film festival which is scheduled for September 29 – October 9, 2022. Set in Vancouver, the Canadian Premiere of Kent Donguines’ PACO follows a Filipino immigrant struggling to uphold his responsibilities and aspirations, while keeping a secret from his family overseas in Manila.
Directed by Kent Donguines, Written by Moira Tan and Kent Donguines, and produced by Film Boldly in association with Aimer Films Inc., this marks the second official screening of PACO after its World Premiere at the HollyShorts Film Festival in Los Angeles, California. The film was produced with the support of Harold Greenberg Fund, CreativeBC, National Film Board of Canada, Canadian Film Centre, Boldly Originals, and Filmable Studios.

ABOUT KENT DONGUINES – DIRECTOR/WRITER
Kent Donguines is a Filipino-Canadian narrative and documentary filmmaker who runs Aimer Films Inc. based in Vancouver, BC. He produced the award-winning films IRIDESCENCE, THIS INK RUNS DEEP which premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, and WATERSHED which was featured at Los Angeles Comic-Con. He also created the short documentary, KALINGA (CARE) which had its World Premiere at the DOXA Documentary Film
Festival and is one of the projects selected by Story Money Impact to impact produce through their inaugural Story to Action program. In 2021, Kent is named as one of Playback’s 10 to Watch as he continues to champion Filipino-Canadian and underrepresented stories. He is also an alumnus of the 2021 Norman Jewison Film Program/CFC – Producers Lab.
