MANILA – No Filipino was injured in the massive floodings in Pakistan that killed more than 1,100 since mid-June.
The Philippine Embassy in Islamabad continues to monitor the situation and stands ready to assist distressed Filipinos.
“As of today, no Filipinos are reported to be harmed or affected by the torrential rain and flooding in Pakistan. The unprecedented amount of rain in the past weeks caused the death of more than a thousand persons in the Baluchistan and Sindh provinces,” said Embassy Charge d’Affaires Maria Agnes Cervantes in a statement dated Aug. 31.
“The Philippine Embassy in Islamabad is in touch with the Filipino leaders and the Filipino community in Pakistan,” she added.
Pakistan has endured torrential monsoon rains since June, triggering severe flooding that already affected an estimated 33 million people. Of the death toll, over 350 are children.
According to the United Nations, more than 500,000 people were displaced and nearly one million homes have been damaged.
To date, at least 72 districts across Pakistan have been declared “calamity-hit”, a number expected to increase as rain continues to pour in the country.
There are around 3,000 Filipinos in Pakistan, 90 percent of whom are household workers and the remaining are professionals and international organization staff, based on the latest data from the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Great, mga kababayan natin diyan mag ingat kayo parati, I will always pray for them lalo na nandiyan ang mga kamag anak namin. Nakakatakot man isipin pero need maging matatag talaga sa panahon na pabagobago ang nangyayari. Pray and pakatatag lang po kayo diyan gayun din po sa amin.
