Locarno Beach cleanup 2022
On June 26, 2022, PICPA Vancouver chapter, under the leadership of its incumbent President, Marissa Velarde, fulfilled its yearly commitment to give back to the community. Undeterred by the scourging heat, its members did a clean-up drive in Locarno beach, as part of the many volunteer activities of the association. Lots of garbage, bottles, cans, paper plates, disposable cutleries, lying all over the place were picked up and disposed of.
The beach clean up is timely as this is the time of the year when people and families go to the beach to soak in the cold water, refresh and enjoy the cool breeze. A clean and garbage free beach is always a delight to go and relax in. For this, Locarno beach goers were thankful to PICPA member/volunteers.
Beach clean-up drive is but one of those activities PICPA members enjoy. The camaraderie is evident – what with the hearty laughter, the helping hands, the food shared after, and the looking forward to another group volunteer activity.
And PICPA is not short of activities to show the members’ gratitude to Canada for opening its doors to immigrants – a good life for each and everyone. Deserving students in the Philippines are being awarded scholarships, a commitment and a manifestation of the generosity and concerted efforts of the members.
