DOH confirms local transmission of Omicron BA.2.12.1 subvariant
MANILA – The Department of Health on Tuesday confirmed the local transmission of the Omicron BA.2.12.1 subvariant.
In an online media forum, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the new subvariant cases detected are no longer related to the cases from other countries.
But the linkages of the detected cases can still be seen. This is not yet a community transmission where the linkages of each case can’t be traced anymore),” she said.
There are three new cases of Omicron BA.2.12.1 subvariant detected in the Western Visayas Region.
One of the cases is a returning overseas Filipino (ROF) from the United States and the other two are local cases.
The ROF and one of the local cases are fully vaccinated. The vaccination status of the other local case is still being verified.
The RESUs continues investigation to know their health status, close contacts, and if the cases are related to each other),” Vergeire said.
To date, the country has a total of 17 Omicron BA.2.12.1 cases.
Of the tally, 16 are local cases – two from the National Capital Region, 12 from Puerto Princesa City, two from Western Visayas. Meanwhile, one is an ROF residing in Western Visayas.
The local government units are now intensifying the 4-Door Strategy to prevent further transmission of the virus.
“Particularly, the third door, immediate detection and isolation of cases and the fourth door, strengthening of healthcare systems in preparation for an increase in cases,” Vergeire said.

Good Evening Everyone! DOH if this is your Concerns po, dapat talaga before po ay inasikaso na nating mabuti ang Distributions at Malawakang Pagpapabakuna ng mga Mamamayang Pilipino na ayon din sa balita ay nagkaroon na ng mga Vaccine na na-Expired lang or malapit ng ma-Expired. Transmission is always there po hindi naman po yan mawawala ng biglaan kaya nga po may Bakuna na tayo para mabigyang Proteksyon sa Covid Variant ang lahat just saying if we only just Constantly push for Vaccine/Booster we did not need any Lockdown or Restrictions, opened up to the world, no quarantine. So as long as the push to Vaccinate/Booster is in place regardless if there is a new variant its safe to say that there is no need to go back to any Restrictions.

I am expecting this to happen especially after the election. I am just hoping they will not bring back FACESHIELDS and Lockdowns because we NEED to work and we got bills to pay. We are not moving forward, we are moving backwards. What is happening to our country.

As expected! After these campaign. Only now they are saying they detected it! How can they justify the time during the campaign period and during the election day? People gathered to attend their rallys and concerts, all in very close proximity from each other. We’re they able to do anything? Now, who will suffer the most?
