Sara Duterte to become next DepEd chief: Marcos Jr.
MANILA – Presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday said his running mate and vice presidential frontrunner Sara Duterte has agreed to take the helm of the Department of Education.
“I think I am already authorized to announce the first nominee that we will be giving to the Commission on Appointments when the time comes, should I be proclaimed. That is that our incoming vice president has agreed to take the brief of the Department of Education,” Marcos said in a televised speech.
Marcos said one of the reasons he appointed Duterte as the next Education secretary is because of her role as mother who wants to “make sure that her children are well-trained and well-educated.”
“That’s the best motivation that we can hope for. So that is the first announcement that I can make that has come out of this process,” Marcos said.
The partial and unofficial tally in the presidential race consistently points to an overwhelming win for Marcos, with more than 31 million votes, more than double the lead against Vice President Leni Robredo with 14.8 million, based on the 98.26 percent of election returns processed.

Sara Duterte is going to be next Secretary of Education. Sara who is not even a teacher nor a professor is going to manage the entire educational system? I’m not degrading Sara, i know she really has great credentials and that’s great! Pero sana nag-appoint sila ng taong mas may alam pagdating sa education ‘yung taong passionate talaga when it comes to making our education system better.
And i will not judge her because she didn’t even start yet but I believe Sara can be a good secretary of DepED. Let’s see what she can do for a better education system.

Sara Duterte as DepEd Secretary? Can we please appoint a person with a background in basic education teaching? I hope Mr. President Marcos would change her mind.
But then I wish Sara Duterte all the best as DepEd Secretary. There is a lot that needs to get done there. I just hope she does not pursue historical revisionism or put into place mandatory ROTC.

Well, I would’nt say negatively but this will put our education in danger. Not only because she is a mayor but our education system is not that great, with her perspective and solution, I think she will just add up in a newborn issues. I hope if she elected, I will wish that she would not destroy the education for all of us.

Kaya dapat consult first before making plans.
