PH’s Kathleen Paton takes home Miss Eco International 2022 crown
The title of this year’s Miss Eco International has been given to Philippine bet Kathleen Paton.
With this victory, the Australian-Filipino beauty queen is the country’s second Miss Eco International titleholder, following Cynthia Thomalla in 2018.
The coronation event was held in Egypt on Friday (Philippine time). Apart from the crown, Kathleen also bagged the Best Eco Video award.
Belgium won as first runner-up, USA as second runner-up, Spain as third runner-up, and Malaysia as fourth runner-up.
As part of the Top 5, Kathleen was asked the question, “As a titleholder, you are a public figure. Do you think it’s important to stay neutral on controversial social issues or to use your title to promote your own belief and why?”
Responding to this, the beauty queen said, “I do believe as a leader and as someone who is very influential in society, we sometimes have to use our voice in a very neutral state of mind because we have a very influential position. But in doing so, we also need to use our voice in order to motivate other people to stand up for what is right and I think that takes a lot of good moral compass.”
Kathleen succeeded South Africa’s Gizzelle Uys.
Netizens, meanwhile, congratulated Kathleen in the comment section of Miss Eco International’s Facebook and Instagram posts where it announced the new winner.
Prior to the coronation event, Kathleen expressed her gratitude “for all the love and care you all poured onto me.”
