Wishes of good luck are pouring this Chinese New Year, but how do we invite it into our lives?
A new year has come and so is a new chapter of everybody’s lives.
With everything you went through these past months, you just want to enter this new beginning with tons of joy, prosperity, good health, and of course, good luck.
To bring in good luck, other people follow traditions like serving lucky food and wearing a certain color of clothes, among many others, as the world celebrates Chinese New Year this 2022.
But New Year traditions, even combined with lucky charms, do not guarantee that good luck will always be in your favor; you also have to get yourself involved in increasing chances of having it come your way. Here are a few ways that might help:
1. Manifest
Think about your goals and claim it. Once you set your sights firmly on a goal, believe that you will reach it, believe that you will have it, and believe that you can be it. Turning it into reality requires dedication, determination, hard work, and patience. Sure, there may be rough roads along the way but you have to trust that you will pass through it. You will achieve it, you will own it, and you will be the person you want to become. *repeat to self until true*
2. Have hope
With all that is happening, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic, it can actually be a bit hard to do this. Some become hopeless, empty, stuck, or unmotivated to do things but know that it is okay. There are days that we run into that phase but good things will come; not sure when but expect that it will happen. If you are having a hard time finding hope, just look closely at your surroundings and you will see a little act of kindness; listen to people around you and you will hear various inspirational stories – those might help you ignite the fire again, revamp yourself, and get back on your feet.
3. Do not be too hard on yourself
You can work hard but probably not to the extent that you are putting so much pressure on yourself, especially when things do not go as planned. Mistakes, failures, rejections are all part of the process, and it makes people grow and learn even more things. Mistakes can be corrected, failures can be overcome, and rejections can turn into strength to try again. Do not also forget to allot time to do self-care to recharge because you deserve it.
4. Work on your goal
Now recharged, you will be able to focus more on achieving your goals, long-term or short-term. Be clear about your objective, plan how you will carry it out, and then move at your own pace to attain it. There is no rush; you can take a step, two steps, or more but you do not have to catch up with others’ progress. What matters is that you are pushing forward, regardless of the speed, and that you are enjoying it.
5. Try new things
It is not an easy step to take for some individuals. It could be scary to do things differently from what you are used to but once you muster up your courage to try, you will probably realize it is worth the risk. There is so much to see, so much to learn, and so much to discover in this lifetime; it could be a new hobby, talent, passion, or purpose. Who knows what the world has in store for you?
6. Learn from the past
Whether you continue walking on your chosen path or embark on a new journey, it is important to bring with you the lessons from the past. As much as possible, people do not want to commit the same mistakes again. You could forget and let go of some things that had happened back then but not the valuable lessons you learned from your experiences as it will be your guide in making choices, taking actions, and improving yourself.
7. Welcome opportunities
Although you may opt to not welcome it all, depending on your preference, remember to leave the doors open for new opportunities. Be interested in learning new things, building more connections, and exploring further. Maybe one of these opportunities will lead you to better paths.
8. Be with supportive people
Feeling down? They are there to cheer you up. Lack of drive? They can be your driving force. Happy? They would be happy too. Unlocked an achievement? They would celebrate it with you. These people would always have your back through highs and lows and would want nothing but the best for you. Keep them by your side and they would be your rays of sunshine that help you block negativities around you.
9. Smile, laugh
Boost your mood by smiling and laughing, even once a day. Resting, rewatching your favorite moments from a movie or series, having a good chit-chat, looking for memes, listening to music, playing games, singing, dancing, and satisfying your food cravings are among the many things you can do to be happier. You need a little cheering up to make the day brighter and less heavy.
10. Have faith in yourself
Some people might tell you that you cannot do a certain thing but you can; you just have to believe in yourself. You are the main character in your own story; you choose what you will do, where you will go, how you will manage things, or who you want to be with – it is for you to decide. You have made it this far, and you will certainly go places if you continue believing in yourself. All you have gone through is not a joke so keep trusting yourself and move forward.
During these trying times, it is really good to be a little optimistic as it could attract good things, good people, and good opportunities, and it could shield us from negative vibes that will try to drain and eat us up.
Perhaps if we look towards life in a more positive manner, there is also a higher chance that lots of good luck will come our way.
