PNP to help DepEd probe online cheating
MANILA – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar on Tuesday ordered the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) to coordinate with the Department of Education (DepEd) on reports of cheating allegedly done by students online amid the distance learning scheme.
This, after DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones sought the assistance of the authorities to investigate the “online kopyahan.”
“Matapos nating marinig ang paghingi ng tulong ni Secretary Liling Briones, kaagad kong inatasan ang aming Anti-Cybercrime Group na makipag-ugnayan sa Department of Education upang alamin kung paano makakatulong ang inyong PNP dito (After hearing Secretary Liling Briones’ call for help, I immediately ordered our Anti-Cybercrime Group to coordination with the DepEd to determine how the PNP can help),” Eleazar said in a statement.
Based on the initial reports, there was a Facebook group wherein students share answer keys for their respective exams.
The School Year 2021-2022 began despite the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, with the distance learning scheme being observed in schools nationwide.
Briones said any form of cheating will never be tolerated by the agency.
The National Bureau of Investigation is already probing the matter.
