iKON’s Bobby is getting married!
iKON’s Bobby is a soon to be hubby and daddy!
The rapper surprised not just their fans, iKONICs, but the whole Kpop industry when he dropped the news about his engagement through a handwritten letter posted on his Instagram account on August 20. He also revealed that they’re expecting their first child in September.
“I have promised marriage with a person I love. I am also becoming a father in September.” He said in the letter, as translated by Soompi.com.
Although worried about publicizing the new chapter of his life, Bobby wrote, “I am happy to welcome a new family member, but I feel more apologetic to the fans who must be taken aback by my news.”
He shared his worries about the feelings of the people who might not like his news, particularly his fans, “I sincerely apologize to the people who are hurt or confused by my news.” He promised he’ll work harder and won’t cause harm to the group and the fans.
Bobby’s worries were natural for a Kpop idol like him, as idols being involved in dating news is quite a sensitive topic in the Kpop industry. However, Bobby’s engagement announcement was well accepted by most of their fans.
More than negative feedback, he got a lot of support not just from iKONICs but from other fandoms as well, congratulating him on his future with his new family.
Some fans were even excited by just imagining how good of a father would Bobby become, recalling how he dearly treats his nephew, Raon.
