Filipino actors who will star in ‘Doctor Foster’ PH remake announced
The actors who will give life to the characters for the upcoming Filipino remake of “Doctor Foster” have now been revealed.
BBC’s hit drama tells the story of a married couple, Gemma and Simon Foster, whose relationship takes a drastic change when Gemma finds out that her husband is having an affair.
The Philippine adaptation of this show will be called “The Broken Marriage Vow.”
It is Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta. Maria who will play the Filipina counterpart of Gemma, Dra. Jill Illustre, while Zanjoe Marudo will portray David Ilustre, the Pinoy version of Simon.
David’s other woman, Lexy Lucero or the Pinay counterpart of Kate Parks, will be played by Sue Ramirez.
Along with them is Zaijian Jaranilla, who will act the part of the married couple’s only son, Gio Ilustre or Tom Foster of the “Doctor Foster.”
“The Broken Marriage Vow” will be directed by Connie Macatuno. Its release date has yet to be announced.
In an ABS-CBN video where it revealed the cast, director, and the title for the drama’s Philippine version, Jodi said she could not believe that she was chosen to play the main role, adding, “Parang napaka-surreal nung moment na ‘yon (It was a surreal moment).”
Sue, on the other hand, said she “broke down crying” when she learned that she would be part of the show, while, Zanjoe and Zaijian said they got excited.
Connie, for her part, assured that the Filipino audience will feel the “gripping” and ‘infuriating’ feeling in this adaptation.
It was announced in April that BBC Studios and ABS-CBN had an agreement for the Filipino remake of the BAFTA award-winning drama.
Before the Philippines, “Doctor Foster” had adaptations in France, India, Russia, Turkey, and South Korea. ABS-CBN also aired the Korean remake titled, “The World of the Married.”
