946 new Covid-19 recoveries raise total to 647.6K
MANILA – An additional 946 patients recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), raising the country’s recovery tally to 647,683.
In its case bulletin on Friday, the Department of Health (DOH) also recorded 12,225 new infections.
This brought the active case tally to 178,351 and the total number of cases to 840,554.
Some 401 new deaths were also recorded, bringing the death toll to 14,520.
Of the active cases, about 97.5 percent are mild, 1.4 percent are asymptomatic, 0.5 percent are severe, 0.27 percent are moderate, and 0.4 percent are in critical condition.
Latest data from the DOH as of April 8 showed that 21.4 percent of 39,630 tested individuals have yielded positive results.
The DOH also reported that 63 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds, 50 percent of 13,500 isolation beds, 50 percent of 6,000 ward beds, and 46 percent of 2,000 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are currently in use.
Meanwhile, 80 percent of 700 intensive care unit beds, 73 percent of 3,800 isolation beds, 60 percent of 2,200 ward beds, and 60 percent of 800 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are used in the National Capital Region.
The public is reminded to stay at home and to observe minimum health standards when going out.
The DOH urged those experiencing Covid-19 symptoms to immediately isolate and contact the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams.
