After revealing loss of hearing in one ear, Lani Misalucha says she is now using hearing aid
Singer Lani Misalucha showed her Instagram followers that she is now using a hearing aid after revealing last year that she suffered hearing loss in one ear after battling bacterial meningitis.
“I believe some of you already know about what happened to me and to my husband. Nagkaroon ‘di ba kami ng bacterial meningitis nung October (We had bacterial meningitis in October),” Asia’s Nightingale said in an Instagram video.
The singer first bared this in December 2020, during the Christmas special of GMA’s singing competition The Clash where she used to be a judge, saying that she became deaf on her right ear. She shared in a video uploaded by The Clash on its YouTube channel that it felt like she was underwater as the sounds she hears became “muffled” and “high-pitched.”
Lani said she and her husband Noli are now okay but the infection left them a “souvenir:” hearing loss and vestibular dysfunction.
“Like every single day, mayroon kaming hilo sa ulo. ‘Yung konting movement ng ulo, ng head nang ganyan super nakakahilo na ‘yan (Like every single day, we are experiencing dizziness. Even a slight movement of the head already made us feel super dizzy),” she said.
“Ako, ‘yang right ear ko ang bingi. Itong left ear ko ang medyo nakakarinig (My right ear is deaf. My left ear can hear a bit),” she continued.
But compared to her, she said that it was her husband who is suffering more from dizziness and hearing loss.
In the video, Lani showed how she assembles and uses her hearing aid. She also thanked those who offered prayers for her and her husband, as well as for their love and support.
“I love you guys,” she said at the end of the video.
According to John Hopkins Medicine’s website, bacterial meningitis is an infection of the membranes that protect the spinal cord and brain and can cause life-threatening problems.
