2019 TESDA scholars, graduates to receive toolkits
MANILA – The 2019 scholars and graduates of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will soon receive toolkits from the agency.
“(These are for the scholars who) either completed or started their training programs before Dec. 31, 2020. Funds for these training programs were charged against the 2019 funds, utilization of which was until Dec. 31, 2020,” TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña told the Philippine News Agency on Monday.
He said the scholars will be contacted by the different schools where they finished the training programs.
“As long as they are under the STEP (Special Training for Employment Program), they will receive the toolkits because these are part of the scholarship they availed of,” Lapeña clarified.
According to TESDA, six lots of toolkits inspected by representatives of the Philippine International Trading Corporation (PITC) and TESDA-National Capital Region District Office and delivered on Monday.
It added that 18 lots are intended for scholars in Metro Manila.
He said other toolkits for NCR will be delivered once the procurement process in PITC for the remaining lots is completed.
Lapeña explained that “lots” refer to the procurement lots.
“One lot is composed of a set of tools for a particular training course. For example, for the Baking and Pastry course, the lot consists of mixing bowl, spatula, electric oven, among others,” he said.
The delivered toolkits on Monday included 5,155 packages for body massage, perform body scrub, perform facial make-up, electrical installation and maintenance NC II, pastry making, and cake making courses.
Toolkits are scheduled for delivery in the regions until February 6, TESDA said.
