PH Covid-19 recoveries reach 448,375
MANILA – With 115 new recovered cases reported on Tuesday, the overall tally of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) recoveries nationwide climbed to 448,375.
According to the Department of Health (DOH), the figure is equivalent to a 93.5-percent recovery rate among those who contracted the disease nationwide.
The DOH also tallied 937 new confirmed cases, bringing the total number of active cases to 21,997.
Of the active cases, about 81.4 percent are mild, 8.5 percent are asymptomatic, 3.3 percent are severe, 0.55 are moderate, and 6.2 percent are in critical condition.
Most of the newly announced cases were from Davao City with 85, Isabela with 54, Agusan del Sur with 49, Pampanga with 48, and Misamis Occidental with 43 infections.
DOH data released on Jan. 4 showed that about 865 or 5.2 percent of the 16,670 tested turned positive for Covid-19.
The DOH also logged 58 more deaths on Tuesday, raising the death toll to 9,321.
“Five duplicates that were removed from the total case count, and of these, four recovered cases have been removed. Moreover, 14 cases previously tagged as recovered was reclassified as deaths,” it said.
The DOH has noted a decrease in the number of new cases reported on Tuesday at 937 due to a decrease in the number of patients seen in Covid-19 laboratories during the New Year.
It reminded the public to be cautious in interpreting these numbers, saying an increase in cases in the coming weeks is still possible.
The department also reported that it has a total bed capacity of 25,400 dedicated to Covid-19 patients.
Available are about 59 percent of 2,100 intensive care unit beds; 66 percent of 15,900 isolation beds; and 77 percent of 7,400 ward beds.
About 77 percent of 2,100 ventilators are available for patients’ use.
The DOH urged all stakeholders to be vigilant and not complacent in the fight against Covid-19.
