MANILA – The Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) will remain open during the upcoming holidays but will close early on the night before Christmas and on New Year’s Eves.

In an advisory on Tuesday, the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), the private operator of the LRT-1, said it will implement shortened service hours on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, both declared as special non-working holidays by the government under Proclamation No. 845.

“On Christmas Eve (December 24), the LRT-1’s operating schedule will be from 4:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. both bounds, and 4:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. both bounds for New Year’s Eve (December 31),” the LRMC said.

On Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and on weekends, it said the LRT-1 will continue to serve passengers based on its regular weekend or holiday schedule — the first train from Balintawak leaves at 4:30 a.m. and the last train leaves at 9:45 p.m. while the first train from Baclaran leaves at 4:30 a.m. and the last train leaves at 9:30 p.m.

Roosevelt Station, it said, will remain temporarily closed “until further notice” to accommodate the ongoing construction of the government’s Common Station or the Unified Grand Central Station that will connect the LRT-1, MRT-3, and MRT-7.

“The last stop of LRT-1 will remain to be Balintawak station, northbound. Rest assured that LRMC is working closely with the government to accelerate the reopening of Roosevelt Station,” the LRMC said.
