Houses damaged by ‘Ulysses’ hits 63.8K mark

MANILA – The number of houses damaged by the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco) has now climbed to 63,885, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said in its update Wednesday afternoon.

This figure is significantly higher than the 39,808 reported Tuesday.

The report signed and released by NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad said these were incurred in Regions 1, 2, 3, Calabarzon, 5, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

Of this number, 6,009 were classified as “totally damaged” while 57,876 were considered “partially damaged”.

Meanwhile, the number of deaths still remain at 73, injuries at 24, with 19 still missing.

The NDRRMC also reported that affected families have now reached 827,260 or equivalent to 3,452,360 persons in 5,951 barangays in Regions 1, 2, 3, 5, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, National Capital Region (NCR), and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

Of this figure, 55, 921 families or 223,378 persons are being served in 1,570 evacuation centers while 66,499 families or 232,513 families are being served outside.

Damage to agriculture was placed at PHP2.89 billion and these were incurred in Regions 1, 2, 3, 5, Calabarzon, CAR, and the NCR.

Damage to infrastructure was estimated at PHP5.77 billion and these were reported in Regions 1, 2, 3, 5, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, CAR, and the NCR.
