‘Rolly’ infra, agri damage over P14-B: NDRRMC
MANILA – Damage to infrastructure and agriculture caused by Super Typhoon Rolly has now climbed to more than PHP14 billion.
In its update released Friday noon, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) executive director Ricardo Jalad said damage to infrastructure was estimated at PHP11,228,895,685 in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and the National Capital Region (NCR).
Meanwhile, damage to agriculture was placed at PHP2,924,837,533 and these were reported in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and the NCR.
Houses damaged by “Rolly” are now placed at 53,747 with 12,659 classified as “totally damaged” and 41,088 as “partially damaged”.
Affected families were placed at 312,583, or equivalent to 1,197, 888 persons residing in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, CAR, and the NCR. Of this number, 44,524 families or 171, 531 individuals are still being aided inside and outside evacuation centers.
The number of deaths being validated by the NDRRMC is now at 22 with 165 injured and three missing in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Bicol.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) along with the Department of Health (DOH), various local government units (LGUs), and non-government organizations (NGOs) have so far given PHP52,945,868 worth of assistance to affected families in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, CAR, and the NCR.
